Lansdowne win the Ulster Bank League in 2018

The All Ireland League was inaugurated in the 1990/91 season with Cork Constitution FC the first winners. The league has undergone several structural changes over the seasons but it remains the pinnacle of club rugby in Ireland.

In that first season Division 1 was made up of Ballymena, Cork Constitution, Garryowen, Instonians, Lansdowne, Malone, St. Mary's College, Shannon and Wanderers.

Division 1 was dominated by Munster clubs for the first decade with Shannon winning four titles in a row between 1995 and 1998. St. Mary's College were the first non Munster club to lift the trophy when they won in the 1999/00 season and were followed by Dungannon in 2000/01.

In the 1997/98 season a top four playoff was introduced for the first time. The playoffs were replaced with a straight league in the 2011/12 season but re-introduced for 2014/15.

Several Ireland paid a surprise visit to their local clubs over the weekend, dropping in to meet the minis and inlcusion teams before heading back to the Ireland camp in Maynooth yesterday.

Railway Union moved back to the top of the Women's All-Ireland League, taking advantage of UL Bohemians' rest week as they put 10 tries past bottom side St. Mary's in a resounding 62-0 win at Park Avenue. Katie Byrne reviews the three round 10 fixtures.

Three teams in the lower half of All-Ireland League Division 1A all won on Saturday as UCC and Dublin University claimed the scalps of Lansdowne and Clontarf respectively. It was also a big day for bottom side Terenure College who swept past UCD for their first victory since October.
